Leadership Education and Peace Training Institute

New Era Educational and Charitable Support Foundation, in partnership with Fresh and Young Brains Development Initiative, (FRESH) Abuja, is pleased to announce 20 full scholarships for young people in Nigerian Universities and other tertiary institutions to participate in its 2nd Annual Leadership Education and Peace Training Program. The training will focus on the theme.

The Role of Young People in Achieving the UN MDGs and Peace building in Nigeria. Scholarships cover road travel, feeding, accommodation and training materials ONLY. The program seeks to catalyze the emergence of a new generation of youth leaders who will participate effectively in forging a strong democratic, people-centred development and sustainable economic emancipation in Nigeria. The program seeks to foster, develop and support youth initiative, and a strong representational youth voice in the service and decision making process of our nation, and to engage youth as resources for peace, good governance, interfaith dialogue, towards the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The training will empower participants by supporting and facilitating the creation of youth-generated activities that promote self-worth, responsibility, intergenerational respect and communication.
Receipt of applications for the training opened Wednesday June 1, 2011 and closed Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Applications are currently being screened. Successful applicants will be contacted by email and phone call on/before Friday, September 30, 2011. The 2011 Leadership Education and Peace Training Program will be conducted from in Jos, Nigeria, from Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th November, 2011. Certificates will be presented to participants at the end of the training. In addition, the best participant at the training will receive our Annual LEADERSHIP INTEGRITY AWARD.
