Civil Society Development Program
A vibrant civil society is critical to the development of any democratic community. Civil society organizations fulfill many roles, including advocating for citizens' rights, providing needed social services, and bridging the divide between citizens and government. New Era Educational and Charitable Support Foundation provides the skills, peer mentoring and international best practices required for civil society organizations to flourish and carry out their work effectively and efficiently. This assistance includes organizational needs assessments and tailored trainings on conflict management, organizational development, financial management, strategic planning, advocacy, coalition building, and other skill sets. Our Civil Society Development Program (CSDP) engages citizens, nongovernmental organizations, and government bodies to work in partnership to improve their communities and foster good governance. The objective of our Civil Society Development Program (CSDP) is to promote civil participation and contribute to the development of sustainable and viable civil society institutions and organizations in Nigeria and the West Africa sub-region.
Interfaith Youth Dialogue and Peacebuilding The Interfaith Youth Dialogue and Peacebuilding Program of the New Era Educational and Charitable Support Foundation provides a mechanism for Nigerian faith based organizations and individuals to be effectively engaged in the generation of religion-inspired conceptions and practices of development that ultimately result in social, economic, cultural and spiritual prosperity of the citizens. The Forum is committed to promoting enduring, daily interfaith cooperation and to ending religiously motivated violence. A major component of this program is theAnnual International Conference on Youth and Interfaith Communication.
Leadership Education and Democracy Program Our Leadership Education and Democracy Program seeks to catalyze the emergence of a new generation of youth leaders who will participate effectively in forging a strong democratic, people-centred development and sustainable economic emancipation in Nigeria. Major highlights of the program include: entrepreneurial and financial management training; educational seminars on democracy and good governance, health, gender issues, human rights, citizenship and social responsibilities and a mentoring program that connects established and emerging youth leaders. The program empowers young people by supporting the creation of youth-generated activities that promote self-worth, responsibility and intergenerational respect and communication. The Program seeks to foster, develop and support youth initiative, and a strong representational youth voice in the service and decision-making life of our nation, and to engage youth as resources for peace, democracy and good governance, interfaith dialogue and agents for change, growth and sustainable development.
Character Education Program Our Character Education Program is dedicated to helping young people develop the convictions and skills to build a safe, sustainable, and just world. The program seeks to promote young people’s ethical and social development through its leadership in conflict resolution, violence and crime prevention, inter-group and interfaith relations, and character development as well as supports educators and parents with professional development, networks, and instructional materials.The Program empowers individuals to live by their highest values. It is an approach which calls people to remembrance of the virtues, the qualities of character and the simple elements of spirituality honored by all cultures and sacred traditions by tapping the transformational power of education that touches the human spirit.
